The project aims to create a novel microcellular nanocomposite foam with mechanical properties that can replace traditional materials like Balsa wood and PVC foam. This lightweight material is intended for use in various industries, including wind power and automotive, to enhance structural performance.
The project objective is to design a novel and cost-effective microcellular nanocomposite foam, with mechanical properties comparable to or better than Balsa wood and PVC foam, allowing for a substitution of these as core materials for lightweight composite sandwich structures.
The material will be applicable for widespread industrial use, e.g. within Wind Power, rail, shipbuilding and automotive industries.
