The project investigates the social structures of Mycenaean Greece by analyzing collective graves through archaeological, anthropological, genetic, and isotopic methods. It aims to move beyond traditional biological models of relatedness to understand social belonging and complexity in prehistoric communities.
Since Heinrich Schliemann excavated the famous shaft graves at Mycenae and identified the individuals as members of Agamemnon’s royal family, archaeologists have tried to understand the social structures which materialised in the collective graves of Mycenaean Greece.
