This project examines the impact of digital technologies on music and its cultural implications. It combines ethnographic studies across five countries to analyze changes in music creation, performance, and consumption, while developing a new interdisciplinary approach to music research.
Music is rapidly being transformed by digital technologies; it is in the vanguard of the changes to contemporary cultures and cultural economies afforded by digitization, and is widely seen as a test case of digitization’s effects.
