This project explores the structural integrity of muscle cell nuclei and its relation to degenerative diseases like Emery Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy. By studying genetic factors and potential drug treatments, the research aims to understand how nuclear organization affects muscle health.
The loss of structural integrity in the interphase nucleus leads to tissue-specific pathologies in a set of human diseases collectively called laminopathies.
These are late-onset, tissue-specific degenerative diseases, such as Emery Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy (EDMD).
