This project aims to develop non-chemical methods for controlling mosquito populations, addressing the challenges posed by pesticide resistance and environmental concerns. It focuses on biological control strategies to reduce the transmission of diseases like malaria and West Nile virus.
Mosquitoes transmit some of the world's most serious diseases.
The most important disease vectors are members of the subfamilies Anophelinae and Culicinae.
Anopheles mosquitoes transmit malaria, filarial parasites , and a few arboviruses.
