This project investigates the evolution of cartilage in sharks by analyzing the 3D structure of calcified cartilage. It aims to enhance understanding of hard tissue evolution and its implications for material engineering and medical research.
Shark’s and their relatives are distinctly unique compared to other vertebrates (including humans); they have an internal skeleton made entirely out of cartilage.
