The Multi-Organ-On-Device (MOOD) project aims to improve drug development for cancer treatments by providing a reliable in vitro model that mimics human tissue. This technology reduces the need for animal testing and accelerates the preclinical phase.
Advances in molecular biology have significantly increased the understanding of the biology of different diseases.
Nevertheless, these advances are not fully translated yet into improved treatments for patients, specifically for what pertains to the oncological disorders.
One of main reasons for this shortcoming is the lack of reliable in vivo models that accurately predict drug efficacy and toxicity, so to translate these results from preclinical studies to the clinic.
