This project focuses on developing a new method for delivering chemotherapy drugs directly to tumors using the body's own immune cells, specifically monocytes. By loading these cells with nano-formulated drugs, the aim is to enhance the effectiveness of cancer treatment and improve drug penetration into tumor tissues.
The success of current antitumoural therapies largely depends on the availability of appropriate drug delivery strategies, which have to allow the penetration of these drugs through the tumoural microenvironment.
