This project investigates the relationship between cell polarity and Notch signaling in epithelial tissues. By conducting genetic screens and molecular studies, it aims to uncover how these factors influence tissue integrity and cell division, which are critical in preventing conditions like cancer.
Several lines of evidence suggest an interplay between apical-basal polarity (ABP) and Notch (N) signaling in epithelia.
Available data indicate that modulation of N signaling can occur through both direct regulation of the activity and mislocalization of either the receptor or the ligand.
