This project examines the role of tryptophan metabolism in the gut and its influence on health and disease. By identifying microbiota components affecting tryptophan pathways, it aims to uncover therapeutic targets for conditions linked to gut microbiota.
Tryptophan (Trp) is an essential amino acid required for protein biosynthesis and is also a biochemical precursor of metabolites which have major effects on mammalian physiology.
