This project investigates the complex interactions between chemical reactions and transport processes in proton exchange membrane and solid oxide fuel cells. It aims to develop detailed models that integrate micro-scale reactions with macro-scale simulations to improve fuel cell efficiency and performance.
In proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) and solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) there are various transport processes strongly affected by catalytic chemical/electrochemical reactions in nano- or/and micro-structured and multi-functional porous electrodes.
Due to the complexity of fuel cells, fundamental understanding of physical phenomena continues to be required for the coupled chemical and transport processes with two-phase flow/water management in PEMFCs, and internal reforming reactions/…
