The project focuses on developing a new modeling approach for understanding how solutes mix and react in aquifers and porous materials. By linking micro-scale physics to larger-scale models, it aims to improve predictions related to contaminant transport and subsurface energy applications.
Modeling reactive transport of solutes in aquifers and other porous formations is a field with key applications for a wide range of problems in contaminant transport, soil remediation, subsurface CO2 sequestration and geothermal energy.
