This project focuses on measuring mitochondrial efficiency in producing energy to better understand its impact on animal behavior and ecology. By using innovative techniques, it aims to link metabolic rates to ecological performance, particularly in freshwater fish.
An organism’s metabolic rate is a central trait that links its physiology with its ecology and life history.
