MISFIRES examines how various stakeholders can address failures in contested markets, focusing on healthcare issues. By employing ethnographic methods, the project seeks to understand how collaborative actions can lead to market innovations that better accommodate social and political concerns.
MISFIRES opens up new theoretical and empirical horizons for analysing and innovating ‘concerned markets’, where multiple actors’ interests, values and concerns clash.
It asks how actors can engage with a market’s failures to challenge its organisation and make it more collaborative, more open to civic values and to social or political concerns.
