This research investigates the human Na+/H+ exchanger 6, focusing on its role in ion transport and its dysfunction in Christianson syndrome. By combining functional assays and structural studies, the project aims to clarify the molecular mechanisms of this exchanger in the central nervous system.
The human Na+/H+ exchanger 6 (HsNHE6) is crucial for regulating pH in recycling endosomes in the central nervous system.
Mutations in HsNHE6 are linked to Christianson syndrome (CS), a severe neurodevelopmental disorder.
