This project aims to enhance the value of forest resources by developing a mobile pyrolysis plant that converts forest waste into bio-oil and charcoal. By processing low-value residues on-site, it seeks to improve competitiveness in the forestry sector and create jobs while contributing to renewable energy targets.
Around 15 million private forest owners own about 60% of the forest land in the EU.
Privately-owned forests have an average size of 13 ha, but the majority of them are less that 3 ha in size.
This group supplies the raw material for the forest based industries with the help of 492,000 people employed in forestry.
