The MICRO4BEE project seeks to address the decline in bee populations by developing a sustainable product to combat bacterial diseases affecting honeybees. Utilizing beneficial bacteria, the product aims to provide a safe alternative to current methods of hive management.
With 630.000 beekeepers and 16 millions of hives, the apiculture sector is an important part of the EU agriculture.
In addition, honeybees play the crucial ecosystem service of pollination, guaranteeing also the maintenance of the biodiversity.
