METLINK aims to uncover connections between metabolic genes and cancer growth mechanisms using CRISPR/Cas9 technology. By screening various metabolic pathways in human fibroblast cells, the project seeks to identify potential new targets for cancer treatment.
Metabolism is crucial for cellular survival.
The large amount of evidence covering metabolic entries is mainly about theenzymatic processes and single reactions happening within the metabolic map, but there is poorer understanding of thecellular growth signaling network and regulation around metabolism.
With METLINK we aim at identifying new andpreviously undiscovered selective links between metabolic genes and cellular growth pro-survival mechanisms.
