This project develops sustainable materials for reducing vibrations and enhancing the durability of renewable energy structures, such as wind farms and wave-energy converters. It aims to train researchers in advanced material integration while ensuring safety and community fitness through new standards and metrics.
This research puts forward an ambitious research and training plan that will foster a new generation of researchers able to design and deliver sustainable meta-materials for vibration mitigation, self-aware meta-components and eventually carbon-efficient yet safe meta-structures for the renewable energy sector.
These solutions will be consistently backed up by tangible durability and damage metrics and the development of new code standards that will ensure fitness for service also with respect t…
