MEESO aims to explore and quantify the role of mesopelagic resources in marine ecosystems, focusing on their biomass and potential for sustainable exploitation. The project will develop new technologies and methods to assess these largely unexplored oceanic communities.
The overall goal of MEESO is to quantify the spatio-temporal distributions of biomass, production and ecosystem role of mesopelagic resources and to assess options to sustainably manage and govern their exploitation.
