This project examines media accountability systems across Europe to assess their role in promoting media pluralism. It focuses on both traditional and emerging systems, analyzing their effectiveness and developing policy recommendations to enhance media independence and user engagement in accountability practices.
In this proposal, we suggest a comparative European research project on media accountability systems in EU member states as indicators for media pluralism in Europe.
The project will analyze the development and impact of established media accountability systems (i.e. press councils, ethics codes) as well as new media accountability systems emerging in the Internet (i.e. media criticism in blogs).
