This project explores the complex causes of depression, focusing on the interplay between stress, neurogenesis, and inflammation. It aims to develop an animal model to test the hypothesis that early life stress increases the risk of depression through an inflammatory predisposition.
Current drug therapies for depression have clinical benefits for many patients, however, there remains a large number of patients who either do not become entirely enabled or do not have any clinical benefits whatsoever.
