This project investigates how mechanical conditions influence cell competition and elimination in tissues, particularly focusing on the interactions between fast-growing and normal cells. Using fruit flies, it aims to understand the mechanisms that can lead to the expansion of precancerous cells.
The local equilibrium between cell proliferation and cell disappearance in epithelia is at the origin of the healthy function of our tissues and of their remarkable plasticity as observed in organ morphogenesis and adult tissue size regulation.
