This project investigates how mechanical forces influence the behavior of intestinal stem cells in the adult gut using Drosophila as a model. It aims to uncover the molecular signals involved in mechanotransduction that help maintain gut barrier function in response to environmental stresses.
In adult organisms, gut barrier function is maintained by adapting the proliferation and turnover of resident intestinal stem cells (ISCs) to environmental cues.
