This project explores how semantic (meaning) and pragmatic (contextual) factors interact to shape the understanding of language. It aims to unify these approaches to enhance linguistic theory and improve computational systems for voice interfaces, ultimately benefiting various applications in industry.
The project investigates the interaction between semantic and pragmatic factors in determining the meaning of an utterance, particularly how the factors can be unified in a single account of meaning.
Addressing this question is important for two reasons.
