This project aims to construct a genetic linkage map for the dragonfly species I. elegans to study color polymorphism and its ecological implications. It will develop markers to analyze gene flow and dispersal, linking genetic traits to fitness in natural populations.
Understanding the genetic basis of phenotypic variation remains one of the major challenges in biology.
Linkage mapping provides means to identify genes that underlie ecologically important traits, such as colour polymorphisms, and this can be used to study the fitness consequences of variation at these loci.
