This project aims to improve access to sanitation in Eastern Europe and Central Asia by developing a modular Natural Biological System™ for treating sewage and waste. The technology utilizes phytoremediation to restore water quality and support environmental balance, targeting rural areas where access is limited.
Although in EU countries, the access to sanitation is universal in urban areas, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA), all belonging to the European WHO Region, lack adequate access to water services.
Indeed, more than 4.3 million people still rely on surface water as their primary source, posing severe risks to health. 90% of people using surface water live in rural locations.
