This project investigates the influence of climate change on silicate weathering rates, which are vital for CO2 absorption and nutrient supply. It aims to quantify changes in weathering intensity using lithium isotopes across glacial-interglacial periods in the Arctic.
Silicate weathering is a long term CO2 sink and silicate weathering rates influence, and are influenced by, climate change.
Understanding the environmental factors which control silicate weathering rates will enable a greater understanding of both past and future global climate.
