This project focuses on understanding the lipid compositions of organelles, which are essential for cellular function and communication. By developing innovative chemical probes, it aims to create detailed lipid profiles of individual organelles, enhancing our knowledge of their identity and role in health and disease.
Organelle identity, defined by membrane and protein composition, is crucial for maintaining cellular organisation, functions and communication pathways.
Disruption of organelle identity can lead to cellular dysfunction and severe health issues, such as fatty liver disease, cardiovascular diseases and lipid storage disorders.
