The Lignocellulosic Ethanol Demonstration project aims to establish a commercial biofuel facility in Europe that converts lignocellulosic biomass into ethanol. It focuses on developing efficient processes for biomass supply, engineering design, and operational validation.
The global object of the Lignocellulosic Ethanol Demonstration (LED) project is to design, construct and operate the first biofuel commercial facility in Europe using second generation technology, consisting on a lignocellulosic biomass to ethanol plant.
The total lignocellulosic biomass input to the process is 522 dry tonne/day, resulting in an ethanol production of 50 MML/yr.
In addition it will produce lignin and distiller biomass.
