This project focuses on identifying individuals at risk of developing Alzheimer's disease by studying those with subjective memory complaints. It employs advanced imaging and testing techniques to detect early biomarkers of the disease, aiming to facilitate timely interventions.
The dementia epidemic is a growing socio-economical problem in developed countries, including Europe, mainly due to aged population.
Alzheimer´s disease (AD), the leading cause of dementia, has currently no prevention or cure.
Identifying AD at early stages will likely improve the chances of developing an effective therapy. AD-related changes can be detected in brains of healthy individuals many years before the onset of cognitive decline using biomarkers.
