This project investigates the dynamics of emerging infectious diseases originating from wildlife, using the bank vole in Ireland as a model. It aims to analyze how invasive species adapt and influence disease spread, contributing to the understanding of ecoimmunology and disease ecology.
Emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) are an increasing threat to global health and there is an urgent need to understand the processes involved in their spread.
The majority of EIDs originate from wildlife, for example the recent outbreaks of ebola, zika virus and lassa fever.
