This project aims to create an automated microfluidic platform for rapid analysis of tumor margins during surgery. It uses a staining protocol to distinguish cancer cells from healthy cells in just five minutes, potentially reducing the risk of cancer recurrence by ensuring more accurate intra-operative assessments.
We propose to develop an automated microfluidic platform for rapid analysis of the margins of frozen resections of tumors.
It will allow cancer cells to be specifically distinguished from healthy cells during the time course of the surgical intervention itself via an immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining protocol completed in 5 minutes.
