This project explores xenotransplantation as a solution for organ shortages, focusing on the role of endothelial cells in organ rejection. It aims to create chimeric organs to test the hypothesis that using host-derived cells can reduce rejection rates.
Organ transplantation is an efficient approach or remedying end-life diseases that cannot be treated by other methods.
Nevertheless, the available organs do not cover the clinical demand.
As an alternative to the transplantation human organs, the xenotransplantation of animals’ organs has been proposed.
