This project investigates how cells detect and respond to mechanical forces, focusing on the protein p130Cas. Using advanced microscopy and tweezers, it aims to understand the mechanisms of force-induced phosphorylation and its implications for cellular processes like healing and tumor formation.
The sensing of force by cells is determinant for processes like morphogenesis, wound healing, or tumour formation, and can control functions such as proliferation, differentiation, or gene expression.
However, the specific mechanisms by which cells sense mechanical forces and respond accordingly remain largely unknown.
