This research program investigates the molecular pathways involved in glucose sensing and insulin secretion, particularly in the context of type 2 diabetes. It aims to identify new strategies for managing glucose homeostasis and improving diabetes treatment.
Glucose sensing cells constantly monitor glucose absorption from food and variations in blood glycemic levels.
They control the secretion of GLP-1, insulin and glucagon, and the activity of the autonomic nervous system.
