This project aims to create a diagnostic device for the early detection of diabetic neuropathy, a complication of diabetes. By identifying the condition before significant symptoms appear, the device seeks to reduce amputations and healthcare costs associated with late diagnosis.
The objective of the innovation project is to develop and clinically validate the first diagnostic device for the early detection of diabetic neuropathy (also referred to as diabetic foot).
Diabetic foot is a common complication of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Current methods are only able to detect diabetic foot once the patient is already experiencing loss of sensation.
This can result in an increased number of amputations and costs as a result of those amputations.
