This linguistic project investigates incomplete parenthesis and its relationship to ellipsis and sentence fragments. It aims to create a typology of these constructions across different languages, contributing to our understanding of syntax and information structure.
This linguistic research aims to determine and theoretically explain the properties of incomplete parenthesis, in comparison toregular ellipsis and fragments.
Thereby, we will provide a systematic typology of (incomplete) parenthetical constructions andamalgamated sentences based on grammatical features, taking into account the effects of syntax, information structure andprosody.
