This project focuses on developing a wireless cardiac pressure sensor implant for continuous monitoring of heart function in patients with congestive heart failure. The device aims to provide real-time data to physicians, enabling proactive management of the condition and reducing hospitalizations.
Congestive Heart failure (CHF) affects more than 15 million European citizens and 1 in 5 people are at risk of developing CHF in their lifetime.
It is the leading cause of hospitalizations in patients over 65 years of age, about 1 in 3 patients admitted to hospital will die within one year. CHF accounts for 1-2% (30 Billion €) of healthcare spending in Europe each year.
