The IMPROvED project aims to develop an early screening test for pre-eclampsia using advanced blood analysis techniques. By identifying at-risk pregnant women early, the project seeks to enable timely interventions and improve maternal and fetal health outcomes.
1 in 20 first time pregnancies are complicated by pre-eclampsia, the leading cause of maternal death in Europe.
No clinically useful screening test exists; consequently, clinicians are unable to offer targeted surveillance or known/emerging preventative strategies.
