This project focuses on developing a model for the antigen processing and presentation pathway, which is crucial for understanding how the immune system activates cytotoxic T cells. It combines mechanistic modeling with machine learning to improve epitope prediction for therapeutic applications.
The immune system can patrol cell status by recognising epitopes bound to Human Leukocyte Antigen class I (HLA-I) molecules and triggering cytotoxic T cell (CTL) activation.
Epitopes arrive at the cell surface through several steps of the antigen processing and presentation pathway (APP).
