This project investigates the role of interleukin-22 in tissue repair and cancer development in the intestines. By analyzing the regulation of this factor, it aims to uncover insights into the relationship between gut health and cancer risk.
Chronic mucosal inflammation and tissue damage predisposes patients to the development of colorectal cancer.
One hypothesis is that the same factors important for wound healing, if left unchecked, also promote tumorigenesis.
