This project investigates catalytic propane dehydrogenation using innovative bimetallic platinum-gallium catalysts. It aims to enhance understanding of the reaction mechanisms, improve catalyst performance, and develop a microkinetic model to optimize industrial applications in propylene production.
Catalytic propane dehydrogenation is the most important alternative route to propylene, the world’s second largest petrochemical commodity.
We will study this reaction over novel bimetallic Pt-Ga catalysts which demonstrate improved resistance to coking.
