This project investigates how cancer cells can trigger immune responses through a process called immunogenic cell death. It aims to understand the mechanisms of this process and develop new strategies to enhance the immune system's ability to fight cancer.
The success of most if not all anticancer treatments depends on the (re)activation of immunosurveillance, as this has been documented for several therapeutic modalities, not only immunotherapy, but also chemotherapy, targeted therapy and radiotherapy.
