This project focuses on developing advanced materials and solar cells that utilize intermediate band technology. It explores various methods, including the incorporation of transition elements and quantum dots, to enhance solar energy efficiency using concentrated sunlight and low-cost materials.
This proposal pursues the manufacturing of intermediate band materials and solar cells according to the following main strategies: a) Insertion of transition elements into III-V semicontuctor matrices; b) use of quantum dot systems to artifficially engineer intermediate band solar cells; c) development of intermediate band materials and solar cells based on InGaN; d) Insertion of transition elements into thin film polycristalline hosts;
