The HYMOTOX project investigates how certain enzymes in hymenopteran insects affect their sensitivity to pesticides. By exploring the genetic diversity of these insects, the project aims to improve pesticide risk assessment and develop safer insecticides.
Hymenoptera (sawflies, wasps, ants, and bees) are an environmentally and economically important order of insects that carry out vital ecosystem services in their role as parasitoids, predators, and pollinators.
