HURRICANE focuses on improving handover processes in mobile networks to ensure seamless connectivity across various technologies like 3G and WLAN. The project aims to develop and standardize efficient inter-system handover operations for future communication networks.
For any IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) or pre-IMS combined network, the key enabling function for seamless mobility and service continuity among a variety of mobile/wireless access technologies supporting IP connectivity is the handover.
