This project investigates the structure and dynamics of the human CPEB3 ribozyme, an RNA enzyme linked to the Hepatitis Delta Virus. It aims to understand how metal ions influence its function, using techniques like nuclear magnetic resonance and single-molecule Förster Resonance Energy Transfer.
Until recently, ribozymes (enzymes composed of folded RNA) were found only in lower organisms.
