This project aims to improve our understanding of habitable environments in the Universe by developing methods to detect water vapor and other molecules on exoplanets. It utilizes precision spectropolarimetry to explore the conditions necessary for life and the formation of planetary atmospheres.
Understanding the nature and distribution of habitable environments in the Universe is one of the fundamental goals of modern astrophysics.
For the life we know, liquid water on the planetary surface is a prerequisite.
