This project explores the mechanisms of DNA double-strand break repair through homologous recombination in cells. It aims to understand how chromatin properties and chromosome movements influence this process, with potential applications in gene editing and yeast evolution.
DNA double-strand breaks (DSB) repair by homologous recombination (HR) entails identification of an intact homologous template DNA molecule in the genome.
Homology search is guided by the DSB-flanking ssDNA sequence assembled into a RecA-family nucleoprotein filament (NPF).
